ABOUT the host

Kmele Foster

Foster is an American telecommunications entrepreneur and political commentator. He is co-founder and Vice President of the telecommunications consultancy TelcoIQ and a co-host of the podcast The Fifth Column.

Foster is the former Chairman of the America's Future Foundation, a non-profit political activist organization based out of Washington D.C. He was the co-host of the now-defunct Fox Business Network program The Independents, along with Reason magazine editor Matt Welch and Kennedy host Lisa Kennedy Montgomery. He is now Lead Producer at media company Freethink. Kmele Foster is a producer and writer, known for Crossing the Divide (2017), Coded (2017) and Superhuman (2016).

Matt Welch

Reason, the libertarian magazine of "Free Minds and Free Markets." He served as Reason's editor in chief from 2008-2016. He is co-author, along with Nick Gillespie, of the 2011 book The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What's Wrong With America, which Tyler Cowen called "the up-to-date statement of libertarianism." Welch also wrote the 2007 book McCain: The Myth of a Maverick.

Michael Moynihan

Michael Moynihan is a correspondent and producer covering national news, politics, and culture for VICE News Tonight — the Emmy award-winning nightly newscast from VICE Media and HBO. Moynihan previously served as the cultural news editor and columnist for The Daily Beast/Newsweek, managing editor of VICE Magazine, and host of the VICE show The Business of Life. His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Politico, Foreign Policy, and Wilson Quarterly, among other publications.

Moynihan was a 2012 media fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and formerly a fellow at the Swedish think tank Timbro.
